Elastic Time

Imagine a barren country road. You are atop a solitary tree. Your friend is standing at the base of the tree. Passing in front of the tree is a lonesome country road. You yell out to your friend: I see a car coming. Your friend says: I don't see any car! To you the car is in the Present. To him it is in the Future. Then the car comes into sight. Your friend and you both see it. It has become the Present for both of you. Then the car passes. Your friend yells: I can't see the car anymore. You yell back: I can see it still. The car has become the Past for him while it remains in the Present for you. Finally, you lose sight of the car. It becomes the Past tense for both of you. Two conclusions: One, time is relative and the past, present and future tenses are elastic. Two, it is possible that for some people who have a very "high" overview - or who can view the phenomenal world dispassionately from afar - to them, what was, is; what is, is and what will be, is.

Nursery mantra

Row, row, row your boat Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream.

Who Am I?

It is necessary to understand that I Am, In order that I may know that I Am Not, So that, at last, I may realise that, I Am Not, therefore I Am. - Wei Wu Wei

What is your next thought going to be?

It is a simple question, but the answer is profound. The answer carries with it ramifications that will undo core beliefs about who you think you are. With just a little watching, you may discover that the answer to the question is not known until the thought arises. If this is true, what does that mean for who you think you are? Because the next thought is not and cannot be known until it is already present, some questions may arise… • If I don’t know what the next thought is going to be, who comes up with it? • If I don’t know what the next thought is going to be, how can I know what choices are going to be made? • If I don’t know what choices are going to be made, who does? • If I don’t know what choices are going to be made, am I making them at all? • If I didn’t make the choice, where did it come from? • Have I ever made a choice about anything? Proceed with caution. These thoughts can lead to the end of you! - Charlie Hayes

Holy Ego!

"I meditate 18 hours a day. What about you?" "I can fast an entire week. You would droop after just one day." "Every single day I meditate in the lotus position for three hours." "I have done four spiritual workshops of seven days each." "I chant my japa 1008 times every single day, at 4.30 every morning." "I have moved to Level 2 of the meditation group. He is still struggling with the first one." "Not everybody can sit with a straight back in padmaasan for two hours every day." "I gave up eating non-veg...like this (snap of a finger)!" "I have read every single book ever written on the Upanishads." "My problem is I don't know what to do with all the love pouring out of me." "I took him to my Guru...but if he wants to live in darkness, too bad!"

Nothing else is

It is God who desires in you And it is God who becomes Desireless in you. This is total acceptance. It is God who is a passion in you And it is God who becomes Enlightenment in you. It is God who is anger in you And it is God who becomes Compassion in you. There is nothing to choose at all. - Osho
